Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for
assisting the Safety Manager with planning, implementing, and
overseeing the company's employees’ safety at work. Exhibits ethical
behavior, promotes trust and credibility, prevents legal liability,
and supports employee well-being. Helps to ensure that the company is
complying with and adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. This role will also
support the Safety Manager concerning facility responsibilities for
the Charlotte, NC Office. Handles confidential information with high integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Perform job site safety inspections throughout the company’s
geographical territory to examine worksites for environmental or
physical factors that could harm employee health, safety, comfort,
or performance.
- Monitor compliance with safety policies and procedures. Collect
data on work environments and implement the worksite improvements in
partnership with the Safety Manager.
- Assist the Safety Manager to plan, implement, manage, and maintain
comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises
or at project site locations.
- Conduct new hire safety orientation. Conduct safety training for
new supervisors and managers. Utilize internal training software as
well as pre-approved outside vendors.
- Assist the management team and field supervisors in the
investigation of accidents and developing measures to prevent
recurrence. Complete and maintain all paperwork with regards to
work-related incidents.
- Monitor light duty program: develop jobs, communicate with
physician/doctor etc.
- Participate in team meetings and provide regular on-site project
presence. Conduct weekly toolbox meetings with every region.
- Assist with safety questionnaires for pre-qualification forms.
- Ensure state, federal, and local safety regulations and standards
are met.
- Manage OSHA 300 and 300A logs. Participate and respond to OSHA
inspections and audits.
- Assure that forklift or other specialized equipment training is
performed and documented.
- Create and distribute quarterly company safety newsletter.
- Assist in the day-to-day facilities maintenance for the Charlotte,
NC office, including security, maintenance, inspections, deliveries,
vendors. Responsible for minor repairs, such as replacing light bulbs.
- Maintain liaison with outside organizations, such as building
owners, liability carriers, and the fire department.
- Provide strategic and tactical support for HR and Safety Department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
